Employment Specialist

Description: Employment Specialist/Deaf Services assists assigned program participants (caseload) in the development, implementation, monitoring and updating of individual plans.

Qualification Requirements:

• High School Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Minimum one (1) year in Human Services, preferably working with individuals with disabilities, particularly the deaf.
• Strong skill in American Sign Language (ASL).
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule and able to work overtime, when needed.
• Posses basic computer skills including Microsoft Office, Word, Outlook and ability to learn the League’s database (ETO).
• Must posses excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must have reliable automobile, valid driver’s license and no more than three (3) points on license.

Vocational Evaluator

Description: Vocational Evaluator will take applications, develop assessment plans, implement vocational testing and prepare reports.  Evaluator will work with staff and participants to jointly create vocational plans, and coordinate/implement services and training.  The evaluator will prepare vocational assessments that meet DORS requirements and submit reports to DORS.

Qualification Requirements:

• Masters in rehabilitation counseling or related field with testing experience, or BA with assessment experience and three years direct rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities.
• DORS Assessment Certification is a requirement.
• CVE or CRC an asset
• Excellent record keeping/written communication skills.
• Basic understanding of ADA and barriers to employment.
• Experience with vocational and/or educational counseling and placement.
• Experience in public speaking.
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
• Good computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel) a must.

Support Counselor

Description: The Support Counselor is responsible for implementing the assigned participant(s) plan of care, working with the participant and their family to improve socialization, self-help and communication skills. The Support Counselor will work with assigned participant(s) in the community and the participant’s home.

Qualification Requirements:

• Minimum age of 18.
• Access to a reliable automobile and a valid driver’s license with no more than 2 points.
• Ability to lift participants up to 150 lbs. in accordance with established safe lifting procedures.
• Behavioral Principles and Strategies, AED, First Aid and CPR within the first 3 months.
