The League's Wellness Center is a multifaceted exercise and rehabilitation fitness center for individuals of all ages and abilities in the Baltimore community. All League participants have access to The Wellness Center's Fitness Facilities and Therapeutic Pool. Our fitness center for people with disabilities is equipped with state-of-the-art machines and dedicated personal trainers, giving you the tools you need to achieve your wellness goals. The Wellness Center has a variety of memberships, classes, and services including Pilates, aerobox, and swimming. In addition, rehabilitative services are available and provided by MedStar Health’s Good Samaritan Hospital Rehabilitation Services. The League's members receive special discounts for rentals, have unlimited use of the facilities, and more!

The Emmert Hobbs Fitness Center is an exercise facility for people of all levels of abilities. The League's fitness center has individualized fitness programs, floor aerobics and other classes, as well as accessible, state-of-the-art fitness equipment.

The Malcolm Hecht Therapeutic Pool provides a warm-water pool environment that facilitates exercise and rehabilitation in a fully accessible pool. Swimming lessons and water aerobics classes are available to all members and the local Baltimore community.

Join Our Community: New Memberships With Special Perks

Wellness Center membership includes open access to fitness classes and equipment, the therapeutic pool, and a hot tub during normal operating hours. Classes are available at an additional rate. All new memberships are subject to a $50 initiation/enrollment fee. Join our Wellness Center today!

Electronic Funds Transfer (pulls between the 10th and 15th of each month)

EFT requires a bank account number and a routing number to set up (see VOIDED check); credit cards not accepted. The first month may be paid in cash/check/CC/money order, but EFT must be set up upon registration for the second and all subsequent months

6 Month / 12 Month memberships are “paid in full”, and can be paid for via cash/check/CC/money order

3-5 individuals who either live at the same address, share the same last name, or are first degree relatives of the primary account holder (parents, spouses, siblings, aunts, uncles & children)

Classes, Rehab, and Specialized Options

We provide aqua therapy classes to assist individuals with disabilities in rehabilitation, recovery, and other specialized therapeutic options. All aqua therapy classes run in 8-week sessions with a make-up week scheduled at the end of the block.

A mini-session closes the class offerings for the year and price is adjusted. If the instructor cancels an aqua therapy class, the class will not be made up.

  • There will be NO fitness class refunds.
  • Please plan to arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of your fitness class to allow adequate time for scanning in, making any necessary payments, and changing clothes.
  • Please re-register at the beginning of each 8-week session. If you are not registered for a class, your name will not be called on the class roster at the beginning of each class. This also means that if any class cancellations happen for unforeseen circumstances, we have no way to contact you. Re-register to stay updated!
  • Instructors are subject to change without notice. Please check with the Wellness Center for any instructor updates.
  • All classes are 60 minutes unless otherwise indicated.

Water Aerobics

Get warmed up for the day with a low- to moderate- intensity water workout to improve your flexibility, range of motions, and weight loss goals. This class is great for individuals who are looking to break a sweat and want to meet their fitness goals!

Times: 11:30AM-12:30AM

Forget the tequila and grab your swimsuit for a healthy happy hour filled with a non-impact, intense workout designed to improve your cardiovascular endurance. The class is made for people of all levels of fitness; be sure to please inform the instructor of any medical concerns.

Times: 7:00PM-8:00PM

Have a blast dancing to the exotic rhythms set to high-energy Latin and international beats. Fitness and energy levels will soar with this Aqua Zumba class! It's easy, effective, and totally exhilarating, often building a deep-rooted friendly community among returning students. Aqua Zumba classes provide great exercise and opportunities to make new friends in an inclusive environment!

If you are not an early bird, no need to worry, we offer night classes. Wind down from the day with a low- to moderate- intensity water workout that improves muscle tone and cardiovascular fitness. Fitness classes and other types of exercise before bedtime decrease stress levels and can even improve sleep quality.

Donnacize Aerobics

Pilates is an exercise and physical movement designed to stretch, strengthen, and balance the body. Pilates improves flexibility, alignment, stabilizing, and strengthening your core. Pilates helps relieve and prevent back pain. In these classes you will gain greater control over your body’s movement through correct spinal alignment and proper breathing. In addition, the greatest benefit of all is that you tone your body, lose weight, and feel great!

Times: 6:30PM-7:30PM

This class focuses on doing aerobox and Pilates. Enjoy a non-cardiovascular aerobic workout incorporating boxing techniques such as kicks, punches, and squats. This aerobox and Pilates class will work out the upper body (arms, chest, shoulders) and core muscle groups like the rectus abdominals and love handles.

Time: 5:30PM-6:45PM

Build strength, tone muscle, shred fat, burn calories, and challenge your major muscle groups with this dumbbell and band resistance workout! The class consists of squats, presses, lifts, and curls as you strengthen and tone your entire body. You determine the level of intensity in this fitness class by choosing the appropriate dumbbell weight and band resistance.

Aerobic classes are great fitness classes for burning calories and lowering your risk of heard disease. Aerobics is known to boost your mood, immunity, stamina and helps with weight management. Repetitive movement of the largest muscles in your legs, hips, and arms will lead to healthy weight loss.

Learn to sailor, weave, grapevine, jazz box, lock step, triple step, salsa, mumbo, and more with neighbors interested in increasing fitness, coordination, movement, energy, flexibility, and fun! Line dancing is an aerobic exercise meant to increase your cardiovascular health and help your mental wellbeing. It's a great fitness class for those looking for fun and exercise!

Aqua Therapy Provided by MedStar Good Samaritan Rehabilitation

MedStar Health serves patients across 10 hospitals, including ambulatory and urgent care locations. MedStar Health even offers telehealth and home care services, including rehabilitative therapy at The League’s Malcolm Hecht Therapeutic pool. As a healthcare leader in the Baltimore region, MedStar plays a significant role in advancing health and partnering with others to facilitate community health improvement.

Community education and partnerships, like the one between MedStar and The League, remain critical to achieving this important goal. Many of MedStar’s patients join The League’s Wellness Center to maintain and improve their fitness. Our fitness classes are inclusive for those of all abilities. Locker Rooms & Amenities

Our locker rooms, dressing areas, and shower facilities are ADA compliant for accessibility. We also have two unisex locker rooms available for individuals with aides or small children. Please bring your own towels, toiletries, and a combination or key lock for personal item safety. Remember to take it with you after each visit. Locks left on lockers for over 24 hours will be cut off. Large lost & found items (towels, bathing suits, shoes, etc.) are held by housekeeping, while small items (glasses, keys, earrings, membership cards, locks, etc.) are held by Wellness Center staff.
